A Better Way To Conduct Competitive Exams

Examinations and kids is an unending relation, as they grow up the examinations, levels of education only turns out to be tougher. For the cherry on top of this cake of examinations, there is a new flavour of Competitive examinations. Apparently, these competitive examination may just boost the child's knowledge at an early age. It is true in many aspects, that competitive exams or exams based on extra portion provides extra knowledge to your child. Absorbing this extra knowledge reveals the capacity of the child. Handling more information than they already have in their curriculum is not just every child's cup of tea, not because they are not smart but because their interest attraction is different, different from the books.
Examinations, as we all know are the major part of your child's education. Without examination the evaluation to his understanding and learning is almost zero. Examinations are those milestones that reveal the child's ability and interest regarding the subject.  They are tests for those fields that might interest your kid and he might want to pursue a career in such a field. At school levels there are a lot of competitive exams concerning the science field, mathematics general knowledge, English and many more. All these exams are conducted in the old system of pen and paper, yet!
Examinations need to be evaluated on the online test platform for better results. This encourages the use of technology in our daily lifestyle, and makes the children acquainted with the online format of examinations. Such exams have no kind of favourism, nepotism and negligible chances of manipulation. Online platforms are not only beneficial to the boards setting them but also to the ecology, by being eco-friendly. Paper based examinations will be eradicated totally, which shall save a lot of paper, which means saving trees and  saving trees means helping  reduce global warming. Also, the work of evaluation will be done faster and in an easier manner, the paper evaluators are less concerned about checking papers and are free for their regular working. This filters the kids only according to their ability, interest regarding the subject taken. The choice of path they want to and can walk on to is clearer with such competitive exams. These exams are basically the trailer to the bigger picture later, if you can handle the trailer with very less stress the picture can be managed too with little extra efforts.
The problem of children's marks being tampered, online examination will solve this obstacle of better results. This will help everyone rely on the examinations and its system of evaluation. Yes, the platform ofonline tests will not be one easy task to establish. One of the matters of concern are the people of the remote areas who are not yet acquainted with computers and the internet facility. These people may not find online platform of the competitive exams feasible and comfortable, as they haven't used this technology. Keeping in mind, our national goal of Digital India starting from the roots is the only, and the most effective way of Indian Digitization.
If competitive tests are one of those steps of making the kid smarter, why not switch onto a smarter ways of taking such examinations? Choice of using the online platforms is one feasible option, and also a step towards development. No, not the country's development, a step of development in the education sector.  If these exams are moved onto the online format, the watch on kids to prevent cheating on tests can be reduced to absolute low scale. Paper formats, question sequence, differently framed same questions, few questions being different in each test, allotment of time slots for number of students can be different are a few options of prevention of cheating on tests! The only kind of supervision that will be needed during such tests shall be only to check if the student taking the test has understood the procedure of beginning with the test.
Switching onto online platform, reduces the administrative and teachers cost for production and planning. The paper setter shall be someone with an immense knowledge, basically smart pants and for every teacher to match up to them is also not possible. Thus, online examinations have a set of solution and explanatory answer as to satisfy maximum questions a student may ask, indeed reducing all the subject teacher's responsibility of explaining the child why and where he has gone wrong.  Taking into consideration and looking into all the benefits of the online platforms, competitive examinations should be yet another addition to them!

Need Of Digitization In The Assessment Of School Students

This year the C.B.S.E (Central Board of Secondary Education) witnessed yet another controversy in the form of the Mathematics paper. Angry parents from around the country protested against the extremely difficult and twisted pattern of questions that left most students confused and demoralized. In a formal statement, the C.B.S.E admitted that the paper was not set as per the general guidelines and contained questions which were challenging even for bright students to attempt.  Although human examining brings about a certain personalization to the scoring system, it loses the ability to provide fair examining opportunities to the disciple. So how can this situation be salvaged? Equality. Freedom. Fair practices. Uniform teaching. These terms are the key to answering this question. If a system is devised to keep a track of the student’s progress throughout the year using various testing techniques as well as providing access to knowledge in seamless fashion, a brighter an...

Should schools opt for online test taking platforms?

Yesterday when I came home from work, I found my younger brother, who is in 7 th standard now, sitting with bundles of paper around him. With curiosity I asked him what these papers are about. He told me those papers were of his academic tests that were conducted throughout the year. He kept on adding papers to bundles and I started wondering exactly what purpose these tests are serving and how is any school able to keep record of each student with so many bundles of papers. The value addition of such tests is indeed a concern. CCE (Continuous & Comprehensive Examination) is introduced in all CBSE schools for overall evaluation of students. The main purpose of CCE is to make teaching – learning experience tension free and enjoyable. Under this, tests are conducted on weekly basis. The syllabus for it will be that covered in respective weeks. The results of these tests show where students need more guidance and improvements. This in turn makes each and every student fully prepa...
